Welcome to the World of The Myth Angel

Hello everyone! My name is Camilla Olesen, though many of you may know me online as Themythicalangel or The Myth Angel. Welcome to my very first blog post!

You might be wondering why I’m writing an introduction when there is already an About page on my website. The truth is, a single page can never fully capture who a person is. Through this blog, I hope to share more of myself with you — not only as an artist, but also as a storyteller, dreamer, and creator.

If you have followed me on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, or DeviantArt, you probably already know that I have a deep love for manga and Japanese-inspired art. What fascinates me most are worlds that blend the ordinary with the fantastical: supernatural stories, fantasy settings, sci-fi elements, and emotional narratives that feel larger than life.

The kind of atmosphere that inspires me can often be found in works like the Persona Series and other Atlus titles— stories where hidden emotions, symbolism, and supernatural elements exist beneath everyday life. That balance between reality and fantasy is something I always try to capture in my own illustrations.

Many of my illustrations are inspired by original characters, mythic fantasy themes, and the stories that connect them, allowing me to explore emotion, symbolism, and transformation through visual storytelling.

Another theme that has always fascinated me is duality and the idea of freedom. Many of my favorite stories explore the tension between light and darkness, hope and despair, duty and personal choice. I’m drawn to characters who struggle against expectations, fate, or even their own nature in order to find freedom and discover who they truly are. These themes often find their way into my artwork, whether intentionally or subconsciously, and have become an important part of the mythical-cinematic stories I love to tell. These ideas continue to inspire not only my illustrations, but also the original characters and stories I create.

My art is not only about creating beautiful characters or worlds. Every illustration I make carries a story, emotion, or cinematic feeling behind it. I love creating pieces that make viewers wonder what happened before a scene, what might happen next, or what emotions the characters are experiencing. Whether it is loneliness, hope, mystery, or quiet strength, I want my art to resonate emotionally with the people who see it.

While I originally started drawing traditionally, I now work primarily digitally using Clip Studio Paint. Digital art has allowed me to experiment more freely with lighting, atmosphere, and storytelling in my illustrations. I occasionally use Adobe Photoshop for mockups and promotional material, though Clip Studio Paint remains my creative home.

Because my work is created digitally, I print many of my illustrations for exhibitions and events. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to exhibit my artwork in places such as Thyborøn and Montescudaio. Perhaps in a future blog post, I will share more behind-the-scenes stories from those experiences.

To be honest, I am naturally a very shy and introverted person. Social media can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I often feel that quick posts and images alone do not truly communicate who I am or what my art means to me. That is one of the main reasons I wanted to start this blog. Here, I hope to share more personal thoughts, creative processes, inspirations, and stories that cannot fully be expressed through social media alone.

I plan to post around 2–3 times a month, sharing behind-the-scenes content, artistic thoughts, inspirations, and updates about my creative journey. My hope is that this blog becomes a place for people who love manga-inspired illustrations, emotional storytelling, fantasy worlds, and cinematic atmosphere to feel inspired and connected.

Thank you so much for reading this first — slightly nervous — blog post. Since this is all very new to me, I would genuinely love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Your support truly means a lot, and I hope you will look forward to the many stories, artworks, and updates I will share in the months ahead.

If you would like to stay updated, feel free to subscribe to my email list to receive blog notifications, exclusive deals, and a free Clip Studio Paint Tips & Tricks handbook.

Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey.
